There is a $30 lab fee for all science lab classes. Fees can be paid by cash or check (payable to Butler High School). Fees must be paid for supplies to be purchased so students to participate in lab.

bullet Chemistry deals with concepts associated with the properties and changes of matter. It is based on the Chemistry Core Content from the Alabama Course of Study. This semester, activities from Laying the Foundation will be incorporated into the lessons.
bullet  There is a $20 lab fee which offsets the purchase of laboratory materials and supplies.
bulletAlgebra I with at least a B is pre-requisites for Chemistry. If you have not met these prerequisites but wish to take the class anyway, be prepared to spend a few extra hours each week attending tutoring to make up what you don't know. You will be asked to sign a statement confirming your intentions to work extra hard to do well in chemistry.
bullet HOLT MODERN CHEMISTRY is used as the textbook, and includes a classroom set of Interactive Tutor CD-ROM disks.In addition to material from the textbook, these courses are enriched with hands-on, laboratory, and cooperative learning activities. SCI-LINKS is a resource website keyed to code numbers in your textbook. Use it to learn more about each topic we cover in class.
bullet Your SYLLABUS will let you know what topics we will be covering in class. It also includes links to various Internet sites that will give you more information on each topic we will cover. Check your syllabus often!
